That's right, supposedly the Red Sox will play an exhibition game in London, at England's top cricket ground. I'd love to see it, though the chances of getting a ticket are small, even with my connections.
There's a growing audience for MLB games over here. During the season we get two live (or slightly delayed) games per week on free national TV (Channel 5) - been covering it for about 10 years. I think the biggest hindrance to a bigger audience is the timezone thing - they should look into broadcasting some day games.
We do now also get the All-Star Game in full, and highlights of the Home Run Derby, and obviously there's pretty full coverage of the WS. In my book it's a real opportunity missed that the 2012 London Olympics won't be featuring baseball - could have introduced the game to a whole new audience in the UK and beyond, as well as upgrading our facilities for future games.

Good stuff there. As a Derby County fan I'm well aware of the historical links to baseball - until the mid 1990s we played our home games at The Baseball Ground, and its atmosphere of slightly shabby grandeur was something that I was reminded of the first time I went to Fenway Park. When the new Pride Park stadium was built, the bar was themed around the old ground, and given the name the Baseball Bar and Grill.

A real toughie. Its between Jimmie Foxx and Lou Gehrig, but I picked Hank Greenberg for sentimental reasons. He's the 2nd greatest Jewish athlete of all time. Behind Sandy Koufax?

Good thing is for me, my other big sport is British football (soccer), and the season runs from August to May, nicely covering the gap, with a little overlap - perfect!
