Ken " Hawk " Harrelson...In his nine year career hit 131 HR's. Had breakout year in 1968 with the Red Sox hitting 35 homers and driving in 109 runs. In 1969 with the Indians Ken belted 27 HR's but batted a lowly .222. Injuries hastened his exit from the Majors. Ken went on to a career in broadcasting. He is also a talented golfer.

Larry Jackson...Broke in with Cards in 1955. In 14 seasons with the Cards, Cubs and Phillies he won 194 games with a lifetime 3.40 ERA. His best season was 1964 with the Cubs. Larry went 24-11 that year.

Smoky Burgess...Broke in with the 1949 Cubs. Ended career with 1967 White Sox. Great clutch and contact hitter. In his eighteen seasons he batted 4,471 times and had a career average of .295.
His best season was 1955 when he appeared in 116 games for the Phillies, batted 421 times and hit . 306. He also had 20 HR's and 77 RBI's.

Andy Messersmith...Two time 20 game winner ( 1971 Angels and 1974 Dodgers ). One of the first to test the free agent market. Played a total of 12 seasons and had 130 wins and a 2.86 lifetime ERA. In 1975 he worked 321.2 innings !

Lou Johnson... " Sweet " Lou played eight seasons in the Majors. He played three with the Dodgers ( 1965-67 ) and had some big hits for the Dodgers when they won the World Series in seven games over the powerful Minnesota Twins.

Curt Flood...Crucified by the baseball establishment for trying to become a free agent. This brave crusader sacrificed his own career and although he lost his case, it was Curt's case that started the ball rolling toward free agency.

Fritz Peterson- Broke in with the Yankees in 1966. In eight full years as a starter with the Yanks Peterson won 109 games. Six times he topped over 200 innings. In 1969 Fritz worked 272 innings. He surpassed that with 274 in 1971. In his eleven year career Fritz won 133 games and he had a 3.30 ERA.

SS-Leo Cardenas- Broke in with Reds in 1960. Became starter in 1962. He went to the Twins in 1969. The Angels in 1972, the Indians in 1973 and the Rangers in 1974. Leo retired after the 1975 season. Six times he hit over 10 home runs. His career high was 20 in 1966. A good glove, Leo ended his career with 118 HR's, 689 RBI's and a .257 BA.

Frank Howard... A 6'7" 255 pound power house. Broke in with the Dodgers in 1958. Cracked the starting line up in 1960. Went to the Washington Senators in 1965. From 1968 through 1970 Frank hit 44,48 and 44 home runs and drove in 106, 111 and 126.
Howard ended his career with 382 homers, 1119 RBI's and a lifetime .273 average.

Stan Williams...Broke in with Dodgers in 1958. From 1960 through the 1962 season Williams won 43 games. Stan played with the Yankees, Indians, Twins, Cards and Red Sox.
In 1968 with the Tribe Stan went 13-11 with a 2.50 ERA. In 1970 with the Twins Stan was 10-1 with a 1.99 ERA and 15 saves.
Stan left the big leagues after the 1972 season. In his fourteen years he amassed 109 victories.
