I'll agree with Pudge.

Very interesting Basenoc. Will get very interesting when we get to teams like the Yankees or the Bosox. For the best player, I liked buhner, but Griffey, despite his injuries could play some ball.

I know you hate the DH but I don't think that they go into the clubhouse and hit while their team is in the field. I've never seen or heard of this.
I understand your objection, and I can't say I'm a big fan of the DH in general, but being that it is a longtime rule in baseball, I think they should be eligible for MVP awards. Especially when they prove to be one of the best hitters in the AL.
I guess my point is as far as MVP goes, Ortiz wouldn't be any more valuable if he were to play first base everyday. In fact he'd probably be a liability. So why should he be penalized for doing what he does best?
This is not to say that he should far and away be the MVP. I'm just stating that perhaps he is more worthy than you feel he is.
But again, I know we disagree on the simple definition of MVP. And even though I wouldn't vote for Ortiz this year for MVP, I think you underrate him.

I'm liking Ortiz, Jeter, Hafner, and Morneau.
I don't think Ortiz will win it. Not as a DH, not after Boston dropped the ball in the second half. Jeter is having a good season, and very well may win it, but how about morneau? This guy exploded this year (to the chagrin of fantasy owners smart enough to draft him...read:me) and the twins are in the playoffs. Does he have a shot? What do you think?

I've always felt that MVP belongs to the most VALUABLE player to his team. This means that a player on a losing team, or a team that doesn't make the playoffs can be eligible.
I think that Howard will run away with it, but Pujols is still having a career season despite a good bit of time missed. And considering how good he is, that's crazy.
I firmly believe that Albert Pujols is the most talented player in the majors today.

I know your feelings on the wildcard, but do you really think that most of the voters really care about all that?

Ridiculous we don't have this started yet.
Far as I can tell it will come down to Ryan Howard and Carlos Beltran and of course Pujols will be in the discussion as always, but the time he missed may hurt him.
Last year we had some pretty good debates going, though this year it looks like Howard may run away with it. I'll provide my own brand indepth analysis at a later time, but what do you all think? Who should win this year?

Angelos description of the leader (somehow related to short stop Louis Aparicio) as an unimportant man with delusions of grandeur won't win him any sympathy. The fans just are not happy with him or the product he's putting on the field.

Phillies will win the wildcard. History has shown that a team in a tight division race generally loses out. Especially when you consider the weak schedule the phillies have coming up. Should be exciting though.

Well where would they have been without him? That's like saying the Heisman should go to the team who won the national championship when obviously steve slaton should get it.

That's the sort of mentality I love in sports. That beat you down no matter what way of thinking. My old wrestling coach always used to say that no matter if you won or lost the match, everytime you walk off that mat the other guy should never want to wrestle you again.
