Nats sign Manny Acta, the Mets third-base coach the past two seasons. Nothing against this guy, but it seem the Nats are going cheap. Most of his experience comes from winter ball in the DR. Also ran the DR national team in the WBC.

• From 2002-04, he was the third-base and infield coach for the Montreal Expos.
• After the 2003 season, he managed the Licey Tigers to the championship in the Dominican Winter League. ... Earned Manager of the Year honors. ... Also won the Caribbean World Series.
• Was the manager for Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican League after the Expos' 2002 season.
• Was a coach with the Astros' New Orleans (Triple-A) club of the Pacific Coast League in 2001.
• From 1998-2000, he was the manager for the Astros' Kissimmee (Class A) club of the Florida State League. ... In 1999, he was named the Florida State League's Manager of the Year, as he led Kissimmee to its first league championship.
• In 1997, he was the manager for Houston's Quad City (Class A) team of the Midwest League.
• Made his managerial debut with Auburn (Class A) of the New York-Penn League in 1993. ... He was at Auburn until 1996. ... His 1994 team advanced to the League Championship Series final.

A's sign Bob Geren who was thier bench coach under Ken Macha. This was an obvious choice after the Rangers took Ron Washington away.
