There were lots of good choices, but Gehrig seemed to stick out the most.

A real toughie. Its between Jimmie Foxx and Lou Gehrig, but I picked Hank Greenberg for sentimental reasons. He's the 2nd greatest Jewish athlete of all time.

Lou Gehrig without a doubt was the best of all-time at first.
He was the real MVP of those Yankee dynasties. An RBI machine, a triple crown winner, an everyday iron man, a good teammate, a quiet leader.
When he retired due to illness, he trailed only Ruth in all-time HRs. Still holds the all-time mark for HR at firstbase.

I agree that Gehrig was better than Greenberg - Greenberg worshipped him. But I just think Greenberg deserves more credos
