Mets are no longer persuing Torrealba.
Latest on Lowell: Yankees never made an offer. With A-Rod coming back and Giambi and (hopefully if he's ready) Shelly Duncan at first. Plus Lowell has never played first before. The New York Daily News reported that the initial report by a Boston TV station was "purely fantasy".
Kenny Rogers fires Scott Boras.

Twins sent pitcher Matt Garza, shortstop Jason Bartlett and Minor League pitcher Eduardo Morlan to Tampa in exchange for outfielder Delmon Young, infielder Brendan Harris and outfielder Jason Pridie.
Good move for the Rays. They need pitching to compliment that offence, and Garza is a talent.

Torrealba goes back to the Rockies.
Seems like the twins are giving up a lot for Young, I know he's good, but Garza and Bartlett?

Do you think this makes the Santana talks moot? I don't know if the Twins can afford to lose Garza and Santana and expect to stay competitive. As good as he may be, you can't put the rotation on the shoulders of Boof Bonzer.

I'm not going to try and get into the mind of thier GM, but if Santana goes, and the rumors of Nathan being on the Chopping block, they may be rebuilding. Thier hitting stars (Morneau, Tyner, Mauer, and now Young) are young enough to be patient. Bonzer is a solid #3-4 guy, Liriano will be coming back, and they are trying to get a future #1 for Santana (i.e. Hughes or Chaimberlain from the Yankees) and a young star (i.e. Cano or Carbrerra). If they are sucessful is extending Santana, Nathan may come off the table for now.
