TONY OLIVA...15 seasons with the Twins. Broke into the Majors in 1962. Became a regular in 1964. In eight seasons ( 1964-71 ) before being felled by a knee injury, Tony was one of the premier hitters in the American League. During that span he hit over .300 six times and won three AL batting titles. He also clubbed 177 home runs. In those eight seasons Tony put up some serious Hall Of Fame numbers. He was one of the most feared and respected hitters in baseball.
His final totals : 1,917 hits, 329 doubles, 48 triples, 220 HR's, 947 RBI's, 86 stolen bases and a .304 lifetime batting average. It is a shame that he is not in the Baseball Hall Of Fame.
