Alright, I'm going to take this as a giant rebuild fom the Phils. It is going to have to prove itself over the next couple of years. Of course Howard and Utley make a nice nucleus. sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2534459

It's done. Lidle and Abreu for minor leaguers. Anyone know if these four Yankees prospects are any good?

It's unreal... and they're not done. Abreu, Lidle, Bell, Fasano, and Franklin are gone, Lieber is next, and I still think Burrell, or Delluci might go.

Nah, I think they will go for one more year out of Gordon. Madson has been good too lately.

see that's what i'm talking about, Gordan's value can't be no higher than it is now. get what you can get, then go to the farm and bring up a Paplebon ;D

I just don't think there's a Papelbon in the farm system. Closers pay days are huge anymore too. Use the old guy til he breaks.

What I like most about this trade is the fact that if Abreu can play well in NY, the Yanks pass on resigning Sheffield next year, and resign Abreu. Plus Lidle is a steady #4 or #5 starter.

Yeah, Lidle is a second half bulldozer. For some reason, he won just about every game last year during the second half, and this year is no different. I think he will be a strong pitcher to have to get the Yankees back to a deep post season run. As far as Abreu goes, he will be on base a lot, and he will hit. He does it all, and I think the power problem is only temporary.

Some main things about Abreu that make him a perfect fit. 1 - his high OBP fits the current Yankee mold of Joe Torre and Don Mattingly's coaching styles. 2 - the short porch in the stadium should help clear up that HR drought. 3 - His defence will be greatly appreciated 4 - he hustles and plays with style.

3 and 4 aren't Bobby at all. In Philly, we love Bobby, but we were always grumbling about his lack of effort in RF. He's got a cannon for an arm, but don't expect him to sell out like Rowand.

I've always seen effort from him. He's not a dive for every ball kind of guy, more like a Dave Winfield type. He gives his full effort, but does it in a more fluid or "graceful" style. He doesn't pull a Manny and take plays off. Maybe I haven't seen every game he played, but that's what I saw in the games I did see. Larry Bowa was interviewed on Baseball Tonight and he echoed alot of what I said. Not saying your wrong for thinking that way, but just going by my observations.

yeah' he won't run into a wall for Philly, but for NY he'd probably run through two walls(due to their winning tradition). more at stake in NY than Philly

Yeah I think Abreu wasn't gonna do that in Philly because he wanted to be traded, not get injured, and he wasn't gonna get hurt playing for a losing team.
