A thing to remember here is that this list is not a "failed drug test" list. This is a list of names that have been finger pointed by others. There are MANY that are not on the list that should be. There were only 2 active players to give information to Mitchell. Jason Giambi and Frank Thomas. Thomas is not on the list, but was aware of some that were. If just 3 players from each team were to be forced to truthfully give information, I think this list would triple at least. Names of more suppliers would surface, and more could be done. The bulk of the info came from Kirk Radinski. There is no way he is the only supplier.

The end of the report is packed with checks and mailing addresses of recipients I think

I'm really suprised to see That Thomas talked. Is it possible it kept his name off the list? I don't want to say he did use, but why would he freely give out this info?

That's kind of what I'm seeing there. Which means there are no RedSox (atleast that I see).
I don't want to jump to conclusions there, but I will be reading this report word for word, and figuring out if each team has a name on it.

The list I gave was not taken directly from the report, but from WNBC. They have since removed that list. I'm not sure who compiled the names, but some of them I can't find on the report.

Yeah that first list was just a guess by them. Pretty piss poor reporting on their part.
Only real Red Sox on here was Mo Vaughan, but he wasn't with the team during the time in question, the only other two with recent links are Gagne and Donnely, each spending about a half season.
I'm not exactly sure what Mitchell was doing for almost 2 years. He produced a list that was almost all already known. I haven't had a chance to read through the whole thing but this seems like a pretty poor effort, and my initial glance doesn't really tell me much.
So where do we go from here?

Leagal actions and denials from most on the list. This kind of thing can really hurt your free agent bargaining. Clemmens and Pettite have already had their lawyers issue statements.

i can't say i've ever been a fan of roger clemens, but i've always respected his talent ... and his two Cy Young seasons in Toronto. I didn't see him getting named, it's pretty devastating.
I found that some players were conspicuously absent: Sosa, McGuire, Pudge, Juan Gonzalez, Brady Anderson, Javy Lopez ...

ALOT of it is one source, or rehashed Balco or Jose or whatever.

You know who I think really benefits from this? Bonds, McGwire, Palmiero, Sosa, and all of the other "should be Hall of Famers if not for steroids". This spreads the guilt around more, and lessens the public negative perception. It doesn't exhonorate them, but now we have more names to take the fall. We all knew there were a lot more people doing enhancers, but now it has been personified. We can now point a finger and say that there are more that we don't know about, and it levels the playing field a bit.
