Banks, Wagner, Aparicio, Yount, and Ozzie Smith come to mind. I went with Banks.

I picked Honus Wagner. Ernie banks and Cal Ripken are a close second.
Why isn't Derek Jeter, or A-Rod on the list?

Best fielder Ozzie hands down Vizquel second. Ripken changed the position and was consistent, Wagner is the old timey favorite. Ernie Banks was no slouch.
I'm going with Ozzie, He could hit pretty well and the spectacular defense doesn't hurt 13 straight gold gloves?

I went with Ripken.
He was a great defender, as well as being the most consistant hitting shortstop in history. His game streak is extremely impressive, and helped bring the game back from the negative fan views caused by the '94 strike.
I picked him over Smith, because the first half of his career Smith was a terrible hitter. Almost an offensive liability. He did make himself a good hitter(not great) toward the end of his career.
Ripken was a good defender at the start, and turned himself into a Gold-Glover at the tail end. He won 2 MVP awards, and played in 19 all-star games. (Smith had an almost equally impressive 15)

Why no Jeter, A-rod or even the un-spellable one from Boston?
