boy!, look at the condition of the them fields, you had to be a great fielder to pick on that surface. i might even believe a average fielder then might be a gold glover today. ain't nothing like the old ballparks too watch a game, i mean nothing. thanks nyjyrk for pics, it reminds me of going to Connie Mack way back when. also hitching a ride on back of the buses too. ;D

Nolan Ryan steamrolled the record books in 1973, amassing 383 strikeouts for the season, a major league record that remains today. Ryan wore these spikes on September 27, when he fanned 16 Twins in an 11-inning game to surpass the previous single-season best, by Sandy Koufax Pros today would never let their cleats get that old. Jim, you might know the answer to this. In Jersey City, right across from NYC, there was a baseball field at one time. I'm not sure if it was pro, minors, negro leagues, or what, but now it is the site of some condo's. Around the outskirts of the condo's, and overlooking the water, there is a walking path that supposedly was the border of the old stadium. They have seats from the old stadium for resting. The reason I ask is because I know someone who lived in those condo's when I was a kid, and I walked this trail. He told me who played there, but I don't remember, and I haven't seen him in ages to ask. Do you know the name of the stadium, and who played there? If I get a name, it's something I'd consider writing about, but I don't even know where to start.

Roosevelt Stadium- The Brooklyn Dodgers played a handfull of games there in 1956 and 57. It was built for the Jersy City Skeeters. Was also the home of the Jersey City Giants minor league team. www.njcu.edu/programs/jchistory/Pages/R_Pages/Roosevelt_Stadium.htmwww.andrewclem.com/Baseball/RooseveltStadium.htmlen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roosevelt_Stadiumquery.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9900E2D71339F93BA15752C1A964948260www.digitalballparks.com/International/JerseyCity1.htmlwww.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/history/top100.jsp?idx=7If niether are it, I'll look a little harder.
