this is the player that i wished the phillies would put all their monkeys in the barrell for. could you see it philly, 1. rollins 2. utley 3. cabrerra 4. howard 5. burrell 6. werth/ruiz 7. ruiz/werth 8. victorrino Personally I'd go this way- 1 - J-Roll 2- Victorino 3- Utley 4- Howard 5- Cabrerra 6- Burrell etc..... Having Cabrerra protecting Howard, he'd see a lot more fastballs. I would feel best with Utley in the three hole. ....of course this is just hypothetical. Your line-up's just as good, but i'd break up the lefty lefty 3 4 hitters. this way, late in the game, the other team will have to use more relief pitchers

IF Cabrerra came to philly! I can't even express how happy I'd be. I don't think they will have the payroll next season though. Howard has to be getting more money. The only way I see it happening is if Burrel is part of the trade.

Cubs trade Jaque Jones to Tigers for Omar Infante and cash.
I understand that the Cubs needed to clear up thier outfield, but do they need another utility player? Are they planning to trade away Theriot, Fontenot, and/or DeRosa?

Yankees resign Posada to a four year deal.
....and that sound you heard coming from the Bronx was all the Yankee fans exhaling.

RUMOR: A-Rod in talks with the Yankees WITHOUT Scott Boras.

Clement will do well in San Diego. Nice to see Torrealba getting paid though I would like to see the Rockies kept together.
And as for A-Rod, I think he realized that no one was going to pay 30mil/year for him and that being on the Yankees and having a shot at a title is a much better situation than being a Cub, even if it means taking a little less money. And good for Yankee brass for demanding Boras be out of the initial negotiations.

I think by doing this, Arod shifts the blame and controvercy to Boras. Of course, it seemed to me Boras bullied him into some of the actions as well. As for the Yankees brass, just from the passed few weeks Hank seems to be alot like his dad was in the 80s. Tough, goal driven, but poor use of the media. Big Stien learned to manipulate the media, and he also learned when to ease up on the riegns later on. I hope Hank learns faster than his dad. I really don't want a reapeat of the 1980s.

RUMOR: A Boston television station and the Boston Globe are reporting that four teams, the Atlanta Braves, Anaheim Angels, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Yankees, have each offered Boston Red Sox free agent third baseman Mike Lowell a four-year contract worth between $55 million and $60 million, exceeding the Sox' three-year proposal.
This could end up being very interesting. Will the Sox match? Will he give them to "home town discount"?
Would Atlanta move him to 1b? Move Chipper back to LF?
Anaheim would benefit the most. They seem very determined to land an RBI guy to help protect Vlad. Plus, they would like to move Figgins to the OF.
If he ends up with the Cardinals, what does this mean for Rolen?
If the Yankees pick him up, and re-sign A-Rod, would he move to 1b? Would A-Rod be willing to move positions again?
