The O's fired Sam Perlozzo yesterday. I think that the problems the Orioles have stem from way higher up the food chain.
Like in the owner's box.

Joe Girardi is reportedly the top candidate. He's already scheduled to interview. If I were him, I'd decline. There will be better job openings next season, and if the Marlins finish near the bottom of the standings, his stock will rise. He will have his pick.

well being an O's Fan i sure wish someone would fire Angelos. every year we pick up lame ducks then resign them .it really makes me sick to my stomach knowing that a once proud franchise has gone the way of Pittsburgh, Kansas city. Part of me wants to pat angelos on the back and give him an atta boy for running the club/business into the ground, In hopes that he would sell, but from the looks of it ,not gonna happen.

Well, Girardi listened to my advice (of course he did ) and turned down the job. Other candidates that are rumored are Davey Johnson, Rick Dempsey, Dusty Baker, Jim Fregosi, Don Baylor, Jerry Manuel.

I'd really love to see them get a skipper that has an Orioles history. Either Johnson or Dempsey would make my day. Has anyone heard the rumor about Ripken being interested in buying the team? Last I heard he was looking for a group of investors to go in on a deal. I haven't heard any hard evidence that this is true, just wondering if anyone had. Angelos really needs to get out of there. Seems to me he's turning into another Irsay. I'm not saying he's going to move the team, but just some of the things he does and for the reasons he does them just seems similar to the things Irsay was doing. Almost like he doesn't care about the team.

The last I had heard is he had some investors, but the deal fell through. He doesn't have enough capital of his own, so he needs a group. I would love to see him take over baseball operations, and restore the proud franchise that Angelos has run into the ground.
